The “Your Great Website” Teleseminar Pre-Question Post

Websites are an essential tool for introducing your work to the world. They often provide a first glimpse into who you are and what you do. Consequently, prospective clients will use your website to determine whether or not they trust you enough to hire you.

So what does your website (or lack thereof) say about you?

If you don’t know the answer (and even if you think you do), next week I’m hosting a free teleseminar to address as many of your website questions as I possibly can.

But before I send out the registration form, I’d love to know your exact questions so I can answer them.

For instance, what if you don’t have a website because you can’t afford one? Then what do you do?

Or what if you can afford one, but the notion of having a website makes you feel nervous, either because you think you’ll feel too exposed or because you’re afraid of doing it all wrong?

And what if you have a site, but it’s seriously outdated or you’re not sure if you have the best content and design for your audience?

There are many questions you may have about having a great website. In next week’s teleseminar I want to address as many of them as possible, so…

Here’s what I need you to do:

Scroll to the bottom of this post.

Leave a comment describing exactly what you need to know about having a great website. Leave as many questions as you’d like.

If you want me to review your website before the teleseminar and comment on it during the teleseminar, leave your domain name and your specific questions.

And last, but not least, do you know anyone who needs website help, but is confused about what to do? Then send them a link to this post and encourage them leave a comment, too.

(The call is over.)

    Rev Amy

have domain names and working on a a site with inspirational content – no services or products to sell, etc.
the plan is to send e-mails with a link to the site -using the list of people I have sent similiar things to for the last few years.

any insight, etc. from you will be helpful and looking forward to the seminar.

and as always, THANKS for your work, integrity and intention.

  • Hi Amy,
I’d love to participate and one of my questions is how do you get your web site to come up when someone goolges something they are looking for like dream work for example. Hope to join you for further discussion. Thanks, Bonnie

I need to know the basics: I understand that there are website designers and website hosts (not sure if that is the right word), each costs money – How much? How do I find these? How do I evaluate their services?
Where do people obtain the beautiful pictures, music, backgrounds, etc.?
Are podcasts incorporated? Does this cost more?
Some are audio only, others with video. How does this differ in production and cost?
Does the designer make suggestions about content? I’ve started writing descriptions, but need feedback.
How much time does it take?
Can I learn how to update the site myself?

I am just considering how to go about creating a website. I appreciate any and all information. Maybe my specific question is “where do you start?”

  • Karuna says:

    Amy,
Can you please tell me when the seminar will be broadcast? It was not in the ChI announcement nor in this page. I am also wanting to forward this to someone who could benefit, but would like to let them know when it will be.
    Thanks,
    Karuna

  • Amy Brucker says:

Hi everyone – great questions! I look forward to answering them during the call

    @Karuna and everyone:

The call will be next week, probably Thursday, March 10.

I’ll be announcing the date/time tomorrow (Thursday, March 3). If you’re on my mailing list I suggest signing up (use the form in the upper right corner of the page) and you’ll get all of the info you need delivered right to your inbox. (If you don’t want to get weekly emails, though, you can always unsubscribe after the teleseminar.)

  • Marta says:

I am not sure if this seminar will be more technical but I guess I have two questions. 1) How do I get more focused with the name and theme of my website. 2) Where do I start?

  • Amy Brucker says:

Hi Marta – I’ll focus a little bit on how to communicate, including how to name things and create branding themes, and I’ll also give you information on how you can get help in case you need it.

  • Amy says:

Thanks for your questions, everyone. They helped create a great call.

Kind words from Ezine readers...

You always have something useful to say, & often in a way others don't address. Of the overwhelming scads of email I get and barely peruse (or mostly delete), I actually read and value your newsletter. Thanks for being, doing and sharing.
