The Connection Between Enthusiasm and Purpose

“Living your purpose” has a bit of a heavy vibe, doesn’t it?

The concept is supposed to be inspiring, to lift us up, and be a beacon of light leading us to our best life. But the concept of “purpose” has always felt too serious to me, even though that is exactly what I help people manifest.

Maybe it’s just my double Scorpio nature that tends to approach life with an intensity that can seem too serious. Or maybe it’s because in my younger years I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what mine was, and I was pretty serious about nailing it down.

Part of the problem is that many of us approach our quest for purpose as though there is one thing we are here to do. Instead of a “soul” purpose, we look for a “sole” purpose, and that can trip us up.

Over the years I’ve come to notice that your purpose isn’t something you can think your way toward. It’s something that has to be felt.

Yet if your purpose makes you nervous or anxious because doing it will require you to step into bigger shoes, be more visible, or do something you’ve never done, you’re likely to push your purpose away, subconsciously, until it feels like a distant memory instead of the inspiring and affirming life path it could be.

So in this video, I talk about the spectrum of purpose and what it looks like, and one significant clue you can tune into to align more fully with yours.
